Archbishop Francois Gayot death, former President of the Episcopal Conference

Msgr. Francois Gayot, former archbishop of Cape Haitien died last Thursday in Rome following a seizure. In retirement for several months, Bishop Gayot represented the Catholic Church of Haiti at the meeting of the International Migration (CIM).

Bishop Gayot was between 1992 and 1998 President of the Episcopal Conference of Haiti.

Born in St. Louis du Nord in 1927, Francois Gayot was ordained priest in 1954. Appointed 22 August 1974, Bishop of the ecclesiastical province of Cap-Haitien, replacing Bishop Albert Cousineau, Bishop was promoted to Archbishop Gayot, in 1988.

François Gayot had discharged its responsibilities priestly November 4, 2003.
