Haiti - Social : Demonstration of solidarity in Duvivier

A solidarity demonstration, organized by the Coalition of organizations working to promote the education of children, is scheduled today in Cité Soleil, in support of the Comité de Relèvement de Duvivier (KRD).

The KRD (member of the coalition), on Tuesday urged the judicial authorities to assume their responsibilities, by punishing an officer alleged to be guilty of the shooting death of a trader, during the brutal repression of a demonstration last Saturday in Duvivier, a neighborhood of Cité Soleil.

Gardy Guerrie, spokesperson of KRD, has called the Police Nationale d'Haiti (PNH) to take appropriate action against the police officer so that justice be done to the parents of the victim. The people accused the police officer Reginald Larosilière of being the author of deadly shooting, qualifying the man of repeat offender.

For his part, Garry Desroriers, the assistant spokesman of the PNG, informed on Tuesday that the officer Larosilière, involved in this incident, by the population was currently the subject of a preliminary investigation and the General Inspectorate of Police and Justice had in hand the file.
