Burning barricades were erected this morning on the road of Meyer. a locality of Jacmel. A group of young people seeking justice for Jimmy Charles, a young 26 year old man shot dead last Sunday during the 6th pre carnival day of the town.
This tense situation has paralyzed all activities in the area, including the transit of Jacmel, Cayes Jacmel and Marigot. The protesters angry, have threatened the people who intended to cross. The police had to intervene several times to disperse the demonstrators. The police seem powerless faced with this situation that intensifies each day in the locality.
Recall that, during a press conference of the Regional Directorate of the police last Tuesday, Petit Jacques Onécifort, the police spokesman, had declared that an investigation had been opened to determine the circumstances of the drama and identify the perpetrator of this crime. According to rumors circulating, the victim was killed by a policeman. The latest report of the National Police of Haiti (PNH) reported one dead, 15 wounded, including a policeman during the 6th day of the carnival of Jacmel.
