Haiti - Economy: Haiti, a goldmine for Dominican exports
Dominican exports to Haiti for the period January-November 2010 have increased by 35.67% over the same period in 2009 valued at 801.27 million dollars. Haiti becomes this year, with 16% of world trade, the second largest partner for the Dominicans.
Exports to Haiti recorded a steady increase, since more than 10 years, from 61.93 million dollars in the year 2000 to 647,590,000 in 2009. Exports of nontraditional products (industrial, agricultural, agro-industrial and artisanal) account for 99.54% as against 0.46% for traditional products.
The industrial sector alone accounts for 621.61 million dollars (77.6% of exports), up 27% compared to 2009. Among industrial products exported by the Dominican Republic include: cotton fabric (175,630,000), pajamas for men (76.98 million), cement gray (36390000), the rebar (24.38 million), mineral fertilizers (19.43 million dollars).
As for agro-industrial products, they represent 18.81% of Dominican exports to Haiti. This sector has experienced the strongest growth, with 98.12% between January and November 2010, from $ 75,720,000 to $ 150,020,000.
